ABOUT THE ARTIST
It all started more than 24 years ago on a small family ranch in Gilroy, California.
Please see the picture to the right of my very first Pheasants ---->>>>.
I bagged and mounted these birds over 24 years ago, and today, the mount is still in very good condition.
The picture is actually a very recent picture taken with a digital camera.
On our ranch, we had pheasants, ducks and quail as pets in our private bird aviaries. I loved to observe my birds in their natural environments; studying their behavior, attitudes and movements as they socialized with one another.
Just down the street from our ranch was another ranch, and the owner, Mr. Robert White, (Bob White for short), was a full-time Professional Taxidermist. A true "Master Taxidermist" for his time!
After my high school classes were over for the day, I would go over to his shop and with his and knowledge and patience, he taught me the business of Taxidermy. That was over 24 years ago…
Mr. Bob White taught me how to mount large North American game heads, full life size animal mounts, animal rugs, and of course, bird Taxidermy.
I have mounted Deer, Elk, Moose and Pronghorn Antelope head mounts, just to mention a few, along with full size animal mounts such as a California Brown Bear which my brother still has standing alongside his fireplace in Truckee California.
But of all my taxidermy experience, mounting birds has been, and continues to be, my greatest passion!
As a Professional Bird Taxidermist, I love the profession; as birds are very much one of the greatest passions of my life!
Not only do I enjoy mounting birds, but I am also a very active member of the National Audubon Society, as well.
I am also a member of the following organizations:
The National Association of Taxidermists.
The California Association of Taxidermists.
The National Audubon Society.
Ducks Unlimited.
California Waterfowl Association.
Pheasnts Forever.
Quail Forever.
I hope that you enjoy my website and that I may get the opportunity to work with you on your very special trophy…
Sincerely,
Robert L. Gagnebin
